On Tuesday April 7th, Arts & Crafts is proud to hang another exhibit of artwork that is not necessarily mainstream 2D art. Villages 3-year resident Linda Liebel has been working feverishly for quite some time to bring her Neurographic art to light and to the enjoyment of any viewer. You may have seen her work at last year’s Open Studio.
Linda has been drawing since she was very young. Her Father, a talented artist and architect, gave her much encouragement and the willingness to experiment with different materials and styles. Many of her classes and workshops over the years include painting, drawing, silk painting, collage, and ceramics. Inspiration artist? It’s Georgia O' Keefe’s art of bold colorful organic forms of an unconventional style
Linda discovered neuro graphic art about a year ago when she was browsing Pinterest. It is freeform, non-repeating lines drawn slowly and intuitively, with mindful reflection. It really opened her creativity. She started to draw the lines, curves, and shapes with no plan, letting it happen spontaneously. It’s calming, mindful, letting feelings flow. Linda uses micro pens, colored pencils, acrylic pens, watercolor, stencils and different textures of paper. She creates art for herself to enjoy at home but has sold some pieces, giving away others. Her work has been evolving over the last few months, branching out to mixed media abstracts and mixing tree drawings with neuro, creating contrast between round and jagged.
Linda moved here, leaving the mountain roads, snow, and ice of Lake Arrowhead to be closer to her sister Vivian, bringing her talent with her. Here she says she is fortunate to have our Art club and so many activities to explore. Your first chance to see her exhibit is April 7th at 1pm until 2pm in the Cribari Conference Room.
